SCRUM MASTER

W​HO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

The Scrum Master serves as the liaison between the business (product) and the software engineering / development team. This role helps scrum teams reach peak productivity by facilitating Scrum ceremonies, assisting the product owner / manager with maintaining a healthy and actionable backlog, identifying and addressing and resolving roadblocks, tracking progress, and identifying and acting on opportunities for continuous improvement. The Scrum Master also plays a critical role in the adoption of Scrum and other agile development practices by the organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides overall guidance for team to adhere to Agile principles and practices.

  • Arrange, facilitate and schedule meetings, demos and decision-making processes to ensure that the proper adaptation process is in use. This includes sprint team backlog grooming estimating and sizing effort, release planning, sprint planning, daily stand-ups and retrospective.

  • Works across stakeholders and team to continuously improve.

  • Drive delivery and continuous improvement by utilizing feedback and metrics to identify areas of opportunity.

  • Facilitates the sprint review and demo, sprint retrospective. Captures and distributes feedback.

  • Teaches problem solving and helps the team become better problem solvers for themselves.

  • Facilitate team transparency by escalating impediments raised and sharing progress by the team to the appropriate channels.

  • Provide regular and open communication across the program to all stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments.

  • Eliminates impediments by actively addressing issues so the team can remain focused on achieving the objectives of the sprint. Actively engaged in defining and managing action items, identifying and mitigating issues and risks.

  • Guide team in self-organization; encouraging and motivating team to focus on iteration goals.

  • Helps the team improve on their journey towards continuous delivery, which includes technical practices that promote continuous integration, continuous deployment and designing the solution for release.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Agile team members and stakeholders to provide transparency and create accountability.

  • Provides relevant and needed updates to all stakeholders and management as needed.

  • Lead and demonstrate value-add principles to the team.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Scrum, Agile, and SDLC.

  • Understanding of basic fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.

  • Experience successfully delivering solutions on an aggressive schedule.

  • Experience in business analysis, product/project management, or product development.

  • Must be able to ensure that Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to and applied.

  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.

  • First level Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM).

  • Experience using tools to create metrics that measure and report on team performance, backlog health and continuous improvement

EDUCATION:

  • BS degree in Engineering or technical field or equivalent experience.

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team.

  • Formal training in project management practices preferred.

  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) preferred.

  • Financial Services / Payment industry experience.

  • Strong attention to detail.
